COUGAR NETWORK RELEASES "WILD CATS" CD
Cougar Network News, 5/1/06
The Cougar Network announced today that it has produced a CD containing a compilation of original articles and scientific papers on wild cat research and conservation.  The CD includes the first three issues of the Network's highly regarded publication "Wild Cat News" (June 2005 - April 2006), as well as the proceedings of all eight Mountain Lion Workshops (1976 - 2005).

The Network's Dr. Clay Nielsen stated, "We are very excited to make this CD available, as it has been in development for several months.  We believe that it will prove to be an indispensable resource for field biologists, students and lay people with an interest in America's wild cats.  Without a doubt, It contains the most comprehensive collection of scientific papers on mountain lions ever compiled into one media."

The "Wild Cats" CD will be provided to members of the Cougar Network free of charge as a membership benefit http://www.cougarnet.org/members.html.  Non-members can obtain the CD for $15.00 by visiting the Cougar Network's "Store" at http://www.cougarnet.org/store.html.

Acknowledgements:

The Cougar Network is indebted to the numerous individuals and organizations that helped make this CD a reality. First and foremost among these is Cougar Network board member Harley Shaw, who conceived of the idea of making the proceedings of all eight Mountain Lion Workshops available on a single CD. Individuals who provided invaluable assistance in obtaining permission to use copyrighted material included Chuck Anderson and Dave Moody of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Donny Martorello and Rich Beausoleil of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, John Young of Texas Parks and Wildlife, Steven Torres of California Department of Fish and Game, and Doug Padley of Santa Clara Valley Water District. Special thanks are due to "Wild Cat News" editor Scott Wilson, who provided invaluable artistic and technical assistance in putting the CD together. We are also very grateful to Dr. Tom Huhnerkoch, who provided a generous financial donation to help defer the costs of production.
